Return Policy
All sales are final, except as this policy provides. If something arrives damaged — or has a defect we didn't disclose — report it within 48 hours and we make it right at no cost: we choose the fix, from replacement parts to a return with a refund, and if our fix doesn't resolve the problem within 30 days, you get a refund. Changed your mind on a New or Open Box item? With our authorization, return it within 7 days — you cover the return cost plus a 15–30% restocking fee. Refurbished items are defect-only. "As Is For Parts" items are final sale.

1. Damage or Defect on Arrival
Made right at no cost to you · 48hr windowIf your order arrives damaged — or has a defect that was not disclosed in the listing, condition grade, photos, or inspection report for your unit — report it within 48 hours and we resolve it at no cost to you. No restocking fee, no return cost on you.
How we make it right
We choose the remedy, in this order of preference, selecting the first that reasonably resolves the problem:
- replacement parts
- repair
- replacement unit
- partial refund or store credit
- return with refund
When we elect a return, we take the item back at our cost and refund 100% of what you paid for it — including any delivery or shipping you paid for that item — to your original payment method. This resolution process is your sole and exclusive remedy for damage on arrival and undisclosed defects. And it has a backstop: if we don't provide a remedy that resolves the problem within 30 days of your timely report, you may elect a refund of the price you paid for the item, to your original payment method.
Why the 48-hour window matters
The 48-hour window is our express-remedy window. Prompt reporting lets us verify what happened and protects our own recovery from the carrier. A late report doesn't waive rights you have under California law, but it may limit what we can verify and which remedies remain practical. Inspect at delivery, note any visible damage on the delivery receipt/BOL before signing, and email photos the same day.
When the 48-hour clock starts
| How you received it | The clock starts |
|---|---|
| Warehouse or curbside pickup | When you take possession at our warehouse |
| Purchase after an inspection visit | When you take possession |
| Local delivery (our crew) | When delivery is completed |
| Delivery + installation | When installation is completed — not truck arrival |
| Ground shipping (parcel) | The carrier's recorded delivery time |
| LTL freight (pallet) | Delivery as recorded on the delivery receipt / BOL |
Concealed damage — damage not reasonably visible without unpacking — report within 48 hours of discovery, and no later than 5 business days after delivery for shipped or freighted items.
Carrier claims are ours. For shipped and freighted orders, we file and own the claim against the carrier — and your remedy is not conditioned on whether the carrier pays us. Your part is to cooperate: note visible damage on the delivery receipt/BOL before signing, photograph the item and all packaging, keep the item and packaging available for carrier inspection, and don't discard, repair, or alter anything until we confirm in writing that the claim is closed.
Defects on items we installed
If we assembled a gazebo, shed, pergola, or similar at your home, we don't disassemble it to take it back. Remedies follow the same ladder, with parts and service first: we troubleshoot, send replacement parts and service them, repair, replace, or issue a partial refund or credit to keep the item. Read the installed-item defect flow.

2. Change of Mind — 7-Day Window
Authorization required · New / Open Box only · 15–30% restocking · customer pays return costChange-of-mind returns are available within 7 days on items sold as Brand New, Open Box New, Open Box Like New, or Open Box Good — with our authorization. Contact us first: we confirm eligibility and the return method in writing. Email us by day 7 to lock in eligibility — pickup or transit can happen after. The item must be unused, disassembled only if delivered disassembled, and in resalable condition. The clock starts when you receive the item (see the table in Section 1), and the cost to return depends on the fulfillment method you picked at checkout.
Which conditions qualify
| Condition | Defect (48 hr) | Change of mind (7 days) |
|---|---|---|
| Brand New | Yes | Yes |
| Open Box New | Yes | Yes |
| Open Box Like New | Yes | Yes |
| Open Box Good | Yes | Yes |
| Refurbished Like New | Yes | No |
| Refurbished Good | Yes | No |
| As Is For Parts | Final sale | No |
Restocking fee tiers
The restocking fee on a change-of-mind return is determined by the condition of the item when we receive it — specifically, the grade we have to resell it as vs. what we sold it to you as.
| Returned condition | Restocking fee |
|---|---|
| Unopened, original packaging, item unused | 15% |
| Opened but unused, all parts present | 20% |
| Minor use, all parts, no damage | 25% |
| Heavy use or partial damage | 30% |
Items sold as Open Box start one tier down — e.g. an Open Box Good item returned in Open Box Good condition is 15%, not the "same-grade" 15% from the New column.
You pay the return cost. How much depends on how we delivered it: $0 for warehouse pickup, $59–150 for local delivery re-pickup, $40–150 for ground shipping, and $200–800 for LTL freight. Every deduction — restocking, return transport, and the payment-processing fee — is itemized in writing before we process the refund to your original payment method. Pick the right product the first time — if you're unsure about fit, color, or dimensions, call us at (562) 568-8883 before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do if my item arrives damaged?
For freight, note any visible damage on the delivery receipt / Bill of Lading before you sign. Photograph the item and all packaging, and email the photos plus your order number to [email protected] within 48 hours. If the report is timely, we make it right at no cost to you — we choose the fix that resolves the problem: replacement parts, repair, a replacement unit, a partial refund or credit, or a return with a refund. If our fix doesn't resolve the problem within 30 days, you get a refund. For items we assembled at your home (gazebos, sheds, pergolas, large fitness equipment), see the delivery + installation subpage.
Which items are eligible for change-of-mind returns?
Items sold as Brand New, Open Box New, Open Box Like New, or Open Box Good — with our prior authorization, unused and in resalable condition. Refurbished items (Like New or Good) are defect-only — no change-of-mind. "As Is For Parts" items are final sale. The condition is stated on every product page before you buy.
Can I return a delivery + installation order?
Not for change-of-mind. Once we assemble an item at your home — a gazebo, a shed, a pergola, a large fitness machine — it's functionally used, and we don't disassemble. For defects reported within 48 hours of installation completion, remedies follow the same ladder with parts and service first: we send replacement parts and service them, repair, replace, or issue a partial refund or credit. See the delivery + installation subpage for the exact flow.
How is the restocking fee calculated?
It ranges from 15% to 30% based on the condition of the returned item — unopened original packaging is 15%, opened-but-unused is 20%, minor use is 25%, and heavy use or partial damage is 30%. The fee reflects the grade we have to resell it as vs. what we sold it to you as. Restocking fees apply only to change-of-mind returns — never to damage or defect resolutions.
Who pays for return shipping?
You do, on change-of-mind returns. The cost depends on the fulfillment method: $0 for warehouse pickup (just bring it back), $59-150 for local delivery re-pickup, $40-150 for ground shipping, and $200-800 for LTL pallet freight. Pick the right product the first time — call us at (562) 568-8883 if you're unsure before ordering. When we elect a return as a damage/defect remedy, the return is at our cost.
Do I get a refund or store credit?
On damage or defect claims, we choose the remedy. If we elect a return — or the problem isn't resolved within 30 days of your timely report — you're refunded 100% of what you paid for the item, including any delivery or shipping you paid for it, to your original payment method. No restocking fee, no return cost, no deductions. Store credit only enters the picture as a partial-credit option when the issue is cosmetic and you keep the item; it never expires. Approved change-of-mind returns are refunded to the original payment method minus the restocking fee and return cost, itemized in writing before we process the refund.
How long do I have to report damage?
48 hours from the clock-start for your fulfillment method — pickup, delivery, or completion of installation (see the table on this page). That window is our express-remedy window: prompt reporting lets us verify what happened and protects our own recovery from the carrier. Concealed damage — damage you couldn't reasonably see without unpacking — should be reported within 48 hours of discovery, and no later than 5 business days after delivery for shipped or freighted items. A late report doesn't waive rights you have under California law, but it may limit what we can verify and which remedies remain practical.
Who files the claim with the freight carrier?
We do. For shipped and freighted orders, claims against the carrier are filed and owned by Francis Retail — and your remedy is not conditioned on whether the carrier pays us. Your part: note visible damage on the delivery receipt / BOL before signing, photograph the item and all packaging, and keep the item and all packaging available until we confirm in writing that the claim is closed.
